ParentLink

The Project Student Parent Success at ParentLink at the University of Missouri was created to help students who are also parents connect to each other, provide support, and find a place of support.

Design methodology

Like the other parent community, this was largely created with the idea of facilitating an online community of practice. However, this was created using Ning, which restricts the amount of customization. Given that, most of the design was in strategically locating items and then facilitating how the site was used by the ParentLink staff in order to best facilitate the online community of practice.

Evaluation

Over the course of an entire year, the site was built and facilitated. Users were asked to be observed using the site, and surveys were conducted to gather feedback from users regarding its usability, content, and other needed items. By following the steps for facilitating an online community of practice, the community has slowly grown. I am now off of the project.
